Dr. Steinhauer was raised in Jersey County with her two sisters. She attended Jersey Community High School, then went on to Illinois College in Jacksonville, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree.

She received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry. She is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases.

The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) has certified Dr. Julie Steinhauer as a Fellow of the College at the association's Annual Meeting held October 24-28, 2006 in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Steinhauer is one of the 20 optometrists who were awarded Fellowship status by the COVD Board of Directors.

In 2003 Dr. Steinhauer began plans to have her office located in Jerseyville. One month later, in April, Jersey Family Vision Care opened. Her father and mother have both been instrumental in helping to build her practice! We have grown through word of mouth and sincerely appreciate that our patients have referred people to us. God has blessed us beyond measure!

Steinhauer is a member of the Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Optometric Extension Program, Parents Active for Vision Enhancement, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.

Currently, Dr. Steinhauer resides in Jersey County with her husband Tad, and their furry family- Buster, Baxter, Pepper, and Callie. Dr. Steinhauer's hobbies and interests include reading, gardening, playing cards, hosting company, baking, and decorating.
